What are Shoulder Screws?

Shoulder screws, also known as precision shoulder bolts or stripper bolts, combine a threaded section with an unthreaded shoulder, making them essential for pivot points, spacers, and alignment in precision engineering. They excel in applications requiring shear strength, rotational support, and accurate component spacing.

AMPG Shoulder Screw Manufacture Process

Accu's range of AMPG Precision Stainless Steel Shoulder Bolts are fully manufactured in just one process, which eliminates the need for any secondary operations such as thread rolling, slot cutting or drive broaching, and ensures that our components are manufactured to the highest levels of concentricity. AMPG Shoulder Bolts are manufactured from DFARS compliant materials and can be provided with full material certificates on request.

All of Accu's AMPG Shoulder Screws are manufactured using high-precision Swiss lathes to achieve extremely high shoulder tolerances. Each Shoulder Bolt is then carefully cleaned and packaged for delivery. Non-standard dimensions and additional materials are also available on customer request.

Metric Shoulder Screw Sizes

Metric Shoulder Screws are manufactured in Metric Thread Sizes from M2 to M20, with relative Shoulder Diameters ranging between 3mm and 24mm and Shoulder Length sizes from 2mm to 120mm.

Imperial Shoulder Screw Sizes

Accu's Imperial Shoulder Screws are manufactured in sizes ranging from No.2 to 7/8, with relative Shoulder Diameters from 3/32 to 1.1/2 Inch, with various Shoulder Length sizes across the range.

Shoulder Screw Materials

Accu's Shoulder Bolt range is available in various grades of Stainless Steel, but a number of Shoulder Screws within this range can also be manufactured in thermoplastic PEEK. Features such as Thread Locking Patches and Chemical Blackening are also available as part of our standard stainless steel range.

Shoulder Screw International Standards

The Shoulder Screw machining process allows for a shoulder tolerance of +0.000/-0.025mm and a general tolerance of +/-0.13mm. If your application requires greater tolerances, we’re able to quote for special manufacture on a case by case basis.
