Shoulder screws are fasteners with a large unthreaded shoulder below the head of the screw. The unthreaded portion of a shoulder screw is precision machined to a very high tolerance, and only the tip of the screw is threaded. These components are used where accurate rotation or sliding is essential.
Shoulder Screws are widely used in a range of industries - applications can include bearings pins, die/punch works, pulley shafts or any shaft where accurate rotary movement is a necessity.
Shoulder Screws are sometimes known interchangeably as Shoulder Bolts. Shoulder Screws can also be referred to as Stripper Bolts. Stainless Steel Shoulder Screws are generally regarded as being more accurate, reliable and boast a superior running life in comparison to Stripper Bolts.
Shoulder Screw Manufacture Process
AccuGroup's Precision Stainless Steel Shoulder Bolt ranges are fully manufactured in just one process, which eliminates the need for any secondary operations such as thread rolling, slot cutting or drive broaching, and ensures that our components are manufactured to the highest levels of concentricity. All of AccuGroup’ Precision Shoulder Bolts are manufactured using high-precision Swiss lathes to achieve extremely high shoulder tolerances. Each Shoulder Bolt is then carefully cleaned and packaged for delivery. Non-standard dimensions and additional materials are also available on customer request.
Shoulder Screw Sizing And Materials
Metric Shoulder Screws are manufactured in sizes from M2 to M16, and relative shoulder diameters of between 4mm and 16mm. All the components in the AccuGroup Stainless Steel Shoulder Bolt range can also be manufactured from a range of specialist materials, including Aluminium, Brass, Phosphor Bronze and PEEK. Features such as Thread Locking Patches and Chemical Blackening are also available as part of our standard range.
Shoulder Screw International Standards
All or AccuGroup's Shoulder Bolts are manufactured in accordance with industry standards. Specifically ISO 7379 (Metric Socket Shoulder Screws) and DIN 923 (Metric Slotted Shoulder Screws). Our high precision machining process allows for a shoulder tolerance of +0.000/-0.025mm and a general tolerance of +/-0.13mm. If your application requires greater tolerances, we’re able to quote for special manufacture on a case by case basis.
Shoulder Bolt Quality, Certifications and Material Traceability
Shoulder Bolts are manufactured from DFARS compliant materials and can be provided with full material certificates on request. Material certificates can be provided free of charge with large quantities and at a small premium for lower quantity orders. All our components are RoHS compliant and come as standard with a free certificate of conformity.
