What are Wire Snap Rings for Shafts?
This C-shaped Round Wire Ring is a type of retaining ring intended to expand as it is axially fitted tightly around a shaft. Used as an assembly aid to hold components onto shafts, these rings snap into place within a radial groove, permitting rotation but preventing lateral movement.
These components are designed to work similarly to an External Circlip, however unlike a Circlip, Snap Rings do not feature specially formed ends to aid with installation and removal using circlip pliers.
Snap Rings for Shafts are commonly used in the automotive industry, often to secure bushings and pins within gear systems. Accu also supplies Wire Snap Rings for Bores in our standard component range.
Materials.
As standard, Accu’s Round Snap Rings are manufactured from 303 Stainless Steel (A1). This type of Retaining Ring can also be supplied with a matte black finish.
