Self Tapping Screws

Self Tapping Screws

What are Self Tapping Screws?

Self Tapping Screws, often simply called 'self tappers', are specially designed to create their own threads within a pre-drilled hole. These components are available in a wide variety of head types and drive types, and are manufactured to a general tolerance of +/-0.15mm, making them ideal for high-precision applications.

AB Type Threads

AB threads are the most common Self Tapping Screw within AccuGroup's range. An AB Type thread is characterised by its spaced threads and sharply pointed tip, sometimes called a gimlet point. The tip of these fasteners aids the self-tapping characteristics of the screw, making AB self tappers highly versatile and suitable for most applications.

B Type Threads

B threads, previously known as type Z threads, are self-tapping threads with a blunt tip. This type of self tapping fastener is generally used in conjunction with blind holes, or in applications where sharp components are unsuitable.

Imperial Self Tapping Screws

Self Tapping Screws are all manufactured in imperial sizes as standard. Metric conversions are listen on each individual product age, and for a full list of conversions please see our Self Tapping Thread Gauge Conversion Table.
