ER Collets are commonly used alongside specialised ER Collet Chucks, which are specially designed to accommodate a removable ER Collet.

As ER Collets are manufactured with a series of slits to allow for flexibility and contraction, each size can support a range of shank sizes of either metric or imperial design.
