This type of Security Self Tapping Screw features a round (domed) head fitted with a Clutch tamper proof drive. The specialised ridge design of this high security fastener can only be operated in a clockwise direction, making it an ideal choice for applications which require a one way permanent fixing. As a result, Clutch Head Screws are commonly used by the police as anti-theft number plate screws, helping to prevent removal and misuse of the license plates.

Installation of these one way security screws is simple, only requiring a Slotted Screwdriver, also commonly known as a Flat Head Screwdriver. However, as Clutch Head Screws are designed to be a permanent fixing, a security screw removal tool is required to uninstall this fastener. Two Way Security Screws, such as 5 Lobe Pin Security Self Tapping Button Screws, are available for applications where anti-tamper screws need to be removed or adjusted.
