Metric Socket Cap Head Screws feature an internal socket drive that is designed for use with a Hex Key, otherwise known as an Allen Key. With the terms ‘socket’ and ‘allen’ being so interchangeable within engineering, this explains why these fasteners are also commonly referred to as Allen Key Bolts or Socket Screws.
Accu's range of Cap Screws are manufactured in accordance with industry standards, such as DIN 912 and ISO 4762.
Screws within this range are available in either a fully threaded or partially threaded form, with the latter featuring an unthreaded portion below the head of the screw. The distinction of whether the screw is fully threaded or not is detailed in each individual product specification. If a larger unthreaded portion is required, Accu's range of Socket Shoulder Screws range may be more suitable, depending upon your application.
Metric Cap Head Captive Screws
A number of Accu's Metric & Imperial Socket Cap Screws are also available to be modified to feature a precisely machined unthreaded section, affording a retaining capability. These specialised Captive Screws are used to provide a secure fixture and help to prevent damage or loss of screws in a housing assembly. Accu's range of Cap Head Captive Screws are designed to aid compliance with EU Safety Directives.
Vented Socket Screws
Accu can also offer Vented Cap Screws, which are a specially modified variant of this component that allow the release of gases and pressure through a bore that runs through the centre of the screw.
Materials
Socket Cap Screws within this range are available in a wide selection of materials, including metals ranging from A2, A4, A4-80, Duplex and Bumax Stainless Steel, 12.9 High Tensile Steel, Aluminium and Titanium. Plastic variants are also available as standard in Nylon, Polycarbonate, Reny and PEEK Thermoplastic.
Metric Cap Head Screws
Metric Socket Cap Screws are available from Accu in sizes M1.4 to M30, and lengths of between 2mm and 300mm. Both partially threaded and fully threaded varieties are available.
Imperial Cap Head Screws
Imperial Socket Cap Head Screws are supplied in sizes between #0 (No. 0) and ¾ inches. Lengths of between 3/32 inch and 5.½ inches are available as standard, and are manufactured in both fully and partially threaded varieties.
