Curved Jaw Set Screw Couplings are suitable for high RPM applications requiring zero backlash. Curved Jaw Couplings comprise two Aluminium hubs and a Polyurethane insert, often called a 'spider', which is used to dampen vibration.
Curved Jaw Set Screw Couplings are an ideal failsafe component, as the Coupling will continue to transmit torque, even if the spider is worn or damaged. When the central spider is excessively compressed or destroyed, the jaws of the hubs will mate, and will continue to operate with metal-to-metal contact. This feature can be either advantageous or disadvantageous dependent on the application.
This component is mounted to a shaft using a Clamp Hub, which is fastened in place using a supplied Set Screw. The advantage of a Clamp Hub is that it tightens around the target shaft, providing a more secure and centralised fastening.
